Training for a Cause

For over 15 years, Jessie has worked closely with rescue organizations, witnessing firsthand how many dogs face unnecessary euthanasia in shelters or endure extended stays in rescue boarding due to behavioral issues that can often be resolved with proper training. Training for a Cause was created to change that narrative. Our program offers personalized, balanced training to dogs waiting in foster homes or rescue boarding. We address common behavioral challenges that affect adoptability—such as anxiety, leash manners, basic obedience, and socialization—to help these dogs become more confident and ready for their forever homes. By providing early, effective training, we increase their chances of finding loving, permanent families while also reducing the strain on shelters and rescue groups.

We offer free training to dogs living in foster homes to help move them one step closer to adoption. To ensure lasting results and set each dog up for success, fosters and volunteers play a key role by consistently reinforcing the training techniques taught.

Training for a Cause is more than just training; it’s a life-saving mission that connects dogs with the skills and confidence they need to shine in a home environment. Together, we can transform lives and give every dog the chance they deserve.

Decca - Coastal German Shepherd Rescue OC

Before Decca came to her current foster home, she was professionally trained by another company and knows her commands well. However, her foster was not shown how to reinforce this training consistently at home. While Decca responds well to experienced trainers, she tends to try and take control when interacting with everyday people. Fortunately, her foster has not given up on her—and neither have we.

Right now, we are focused on expanding Decca’s socialization with people, creating positive experiences, and helping her learn to make good choices in everyday situations.
